Tóm tắt

Trẻ em luôn có những khả năng tiềm ẩn.Một dự ánhọc và thi ảnh sẽ trở thành cơ hội để các em thể hiện được khả năng đó. Dự án dạy cho trẻ em nghèo và có hoàn cảnh khó khăn tại vùng nông thôn xã Xuân Sơn thuộc huyện Thọ Xuân, tỉnh Thanh Hóa họcchụp hình và kể câu chuyện cuộc sống của chính các em qua những bức ảnh. Các em sẽ nhận được sự hỗ trợ từ các nhiếp ảnh gia chuyên nghiệp, bán chuyên nghiệp để biết được cách sử dụng máy ảnh và thể hiện được suy nghĩ cảm xúc qua những bức ảnh.

Một cuộc triển lãm mở dành cho toàn thể cộng đồng được tổ chức trên địa bàn xã Xuân Sơn. Trong dịp này ngoài sự đồng ý có mặt của chính quyền địa phương sẽ có khách trong và ngoài nước được mời đến Xuân Sơn để tham dự triển lãm.200 bức ảnh tốt nhất sẽ được lựa chọn, và mỗi em có ảnh tham gia triển lãm sẽ tự thiết kế khung cho ảnh của mình từ các nguyên vật liệu từ thiên nhiên.

Sau khi kết thúc triển lãm với 200 hình ảnh tốt nhất và một số hoạt động trong triển lãm, chúng tôi sẽ phát hành một cuốn sách ảnh cùng với câu chuyện ảnh của các em về cuộc sống tại địa phương của mình.

1.      Mục đích và mục tiêu của dự án

Giúp trẻ em nghèo và thiệt thòi từ các vùng nông thôn Việt Nam tự phát hiện khả năng tiềm ẩn về nhiếp ảnh.Cộng với một chút hỗ trợ về kỹ năng, các em sẽ có cơ hội tự khám phá những giá trị, ý nghĩa của cuộc sống và thể hiện câu chuyện cuộc sống của mình một cách chân thực nhất qua những bức ảnh.

a)     Tạo điều kiện cho trẻ em nghèo được học cách sử dụng máy ảnh và tham gia chụp ảnh để nhận thức tốt hơn về giá trị cuộc sống.

b)     Tổ chức một triển lãm ảnh để chia sẻ nâng cao nhận thức cho chính cộng đồng và trẻ em địa phương.

c)     Xuất bản một cuốn sách ảnh với 200 ảnh kèm theonhững câu chuyện của các em.

d)     Mở rộng dự ántại nhiều địa phương. Chia sẻ rộng rãi trong nước và quốc tế vềnhững góc nhìn cuộc sống, những ước mơ thời thơ ấu của trẻ em tại nhiều địa phương ở Việt Nam.

Tầm nhìn:

Một phong trào nhiếp ảnh rộng khắp ở các vùng nông thôn đóng góp vào sự đa dạng văn hóa, đời sống tinh thần, lối sống, tiếp cận với công nghệ mới cho trẻ em và cả cộng đồng nơi các em sống.

2.      Lý do thực hiện dự án

a)     Làm việc với máy ảnh giúp các em phát triển khả năng nhìn nhận, phân tích, quan sát cuộc sống và thiên nhiên. Tăng cường sự hiểu biết, sự tự tin của các em.

b)     Người dân trên địa bàn có cơ hội được tiếp cận với một triển lãm ảnh, có thể xem thế giới của họ từ cái nhìn của chính con em họ, qua đó có thể họ nhận thấy những khả năng, hay những mối quan tâm của con cái của họ.

c)     Nâng cao nhận thức của cộng đồng tại các vùng nông thôn về giá trị và vẻ đẹp trong cuộc sống và không gian sống của họ.

d)     Tạo cơ sở  dũ liệu về cuộc sống của các vùng bằng sự đánh giá chân thưc qua hình ảnh và câu chuyện của trẻ em.

3.      Phân tích tình hình

a)     Xã Xuân Sơn có tới 25% số hộ nghèo. Hầu hết trẻ em trong vùng có cơ hội đến trường, nhưng không có cơ hội nào khác ngoài việc đi học. Sau giờ học các em phải giúp đỡ gia đình trong công việc hàng ngày và kiếm tiền. Một số trẻ em trong gia đình nghèo không thể đến trường, các em phải laođộng từ rất sớm. Vì vậy trẻ em gần như không bao giờ có cơ hội được tiếp cận với máy ảnh, hay máy vi tính hay các dụng cụ âm nhạc… trẻ em không bao giờ có cơ hội để bày tỏ suy nghĩ, khả năng hay sở thích của mình.

b)     Chúng tôi biết hoàn cảnh của người dân địa phương, các mối quan hệ trong địa bàn, các hoạt động xã hội, các lễ hội và sự kiện cộng đồng. Chúng tôi biết trẻ em ở đây, họ biết chúng tôi và tin tưởng chúng tôi

c)     Hiện nay dự án đã có được 3 cái máy ảnh nhỏ, cũ đã qua sử dụng, đó là sựủng hộ của một số người bạn cho ý tưởng ban đầu. Máy ảnh là điều kiện tiên quyết là công cụ để các em kể câu chuyện cuộc sống xung quanh mình, phương tiện để thể hiện suy nghĩ, nhận thức, tình cảm của mình một cách tốt nhất.

4.      Các hoạt động cụ thể

a)     Gói công việc thứ 1: Làm việc với chính quyền địa phương

Hành động:

-         Dự án đã có buổi gặp mặt và làm việc với chính quyền địa phương xã Xuân Sơn. Thay mặt chính quyền địa phương các đồng chí chủ tịch ủy ban nhân dân xã, phó chủ tịch, trưởng ban văn hóa xã, bí thư đoàn thanh niên đã hoàn toàn đồng ý và khuyến khích thực hiện dự án tại địa phương. Bên cạnh đó còn hỗ trợ cho dự án được phát thông tin trên đài phát thanh của địa phương.

b)     Gói công việc thứ 2: Làm việc với trẻ em.

Trong dự án các nhiếp ảnh gia chuyên nghiệp và nghiệp dư sẽ hướng dẫn các em sử dụng một máy ảnh. Khơi mở cho các em hiểu được mục tiêu của dự án, và hướng dẫn cho các em chụp những bức ảnh chính là cuộc sống thực tế của các em

Hành động:

1)     Trước hết sẽ có cuộc gặp gỡ với các trẻ em đối thượng từ 9-15 tuổi trên địa bàn xã Xuân Sơn. Trong cuộc họp sẽ thảo luận về những điều các em quan tâm trong cuộc sống, những điều kiện sống khác nhau của các em.

2)     Vì số lượng máy ảnh có hạn, mỗi em chỉ được giữ máy để thực hiện hình ảnh trong vòng 2 ngày.

-         Ngày đầu tiên là học cách sử dụng máy ảnh.

-         Ngày tiếp theo sẽ là ngày thực hành thực sự của các em, các em sẽ đi và chụp ảnh theo cách riêng của mỗi cá nhân, bằng cách sử dụng máy ảnh đã được cung cấp, chụp ảnh và kể những câu chuyện trong một ngày của chính các em.

Kết quả 200 bức ảnh xuất sắc nhất sẽ được lựa chọn để tổ chức triển lãm.

Thông tin:

1.      Các thông tin về dự án nhiếp ảnh của trẻ em sẽ được phát sóng trên đài phát thanh địa phương liên tục trước, trong và sau thời gian cuộc thi.

2.      Các tài liệu liên quan đến thể lệ cuộc thi, hình thức tham dự, giải thưởng và các thông tin liên quan sẽ được in ấn dưới dạng tờ bướm để phát cho các em, để các em thông báo và xin phép  phụ huynh cho tham gia dự án và chụp ảnh đời sống của chính gia đình họ.

c)     Gói công việc thứ 3: Triển lãm ảnh

Một triển lãm ảnh mở tại xã Xuân Sơn, huyện Thọ Xuân, tỉnh Thanh Hóa với 200 hình ảnh tốt nhất trong cuộc thi. Ttriển lãm không những thể hiện những hình ảnh đẹp của ngôi làng nhỏ mà còn phản ảnh đời sống thực sự và sự khó khăn của những người dân nông thôn.Vì vậy người dân trên địa bàn Xã cũng như các khu vực lân cận có cơ hội được xem hình ảnh cuộc sống của mình qua những hình ảnh chân thực nhất.

Hành động:

1.      200 bức ảnh tốt nhất để tham dự triển lãm sẽ được lựa chọn từ khoảng 1.000 bức ảnh từ 200 em tham gia cuộc thi.

2.      Tất cả các hình ảnh được tham gia triển lãm sẽ được thiết kế với chất lượng tốt ở độ phân giải cao đảm bảo cho việc in ấn

3.      In các bức ảnh của các em

4.      Các khung ảnh sẽ được sáng tạo bởi chính các em và sự hỗ trợ từ gia đình từ các nguyên vật liệu xung quanh cuộc sống của các em.

5.      Chuẩn bị khai mạc triển lãm, mời chính quyền địa phương, một số quan khách quốc tế,nhân vật có ảnh hưởng đến cộng đồng với một số lời chúc mừng và thuyết trình.

6.      Một dịch vụ an ninh sẽ đảm bảo cho khai mạc triển lãm và toàn bộ thời gian diễn ra triển lãm.

Số lượng:

-         200 hình ảnh tốt nhất và khung hình từ các em sẽ được giới thiệu trong triển lãm. Nếu khách mời hoặc những người xem muốn mua những bức ảnh sẽ được bán, toàn bộ số tiền này sẽ được dùng để đóng góp cho quỹ giúp học sinh nghèo có thể đến trường của trường học ở địa phương.

-         Sau triển lãm mỗi tác giả sẽ được nhận bức ảnh in khổ lớn 40x60 chất lượng tốt của chính mình. 3 trẻ em có ảnh xuất sắc nhất sẽ được tặng thưởng, giải thưởng lớn nhất là một máy chụp hình kỹ thuật số như các em đã thực hành, và có thể có thêm một số món quà khác từ các nhà tài trợ.(áo thun, vở, sách, bút…)

Công tác truyền thông:

-         Các kênh phát thanh của địa phương sẽ tham gia để thông báo rộng rãi đến các em và công chúng về triển lãm ảnh.

-         Ban tổ chức sẽ liên hệ với một số báo, tạp chí quan tâm đến trẻ em và các vấn đề xã hội để đưa tin rộng rãi tới bạn đọc.

-         Dự án sẽ tạo một trang web phù hợp và sử dụng các phương tiện truyền thông xã hội mới như Facebook, Twitter, Youtube….

-         Một số nhân vật của công chúng sẽ được mời tham dự khai mạc triển lãm.

d)     Gói công việc thứ 4: In ấn và xuất bản một cuốn sách ảnh

Sau triển lãm ảnh, một cuốn sách ảnh với 200 bức ảnh tốt nhất và những câu chuyện đi kèm sẽ được công bố để có được phẩn mở rộng trong quốc gia và quốc tế, và có vai trò lâu dài như một tài liệu hướng dẫn công trình của các trẻ em với máy ảnh.

e)     Tác động dự kiến

1.      Với sự thành công của dự án thí điểm, sau đó sẽ được nhân rộng trên phạm vi cả nước ở nhiều khu vực nông thôn nghèo khác nhau để hiển thị điều kiện sống, các sinh hoạt văn hóa khác nhau từ cái nhìn của trẻ em rất chân thực. Quan trọng hơn là trẻ em nghèo có cơ hội tiếp cận và khám phá những điều kiện sống của quê hương mình, và của chính mình.

2.      Dự án tại xã Xuân Sơn, huyện Thọ Xuân, tỉnh Thanh Hóa dồng thời cũng sẽ trở thành một hoạt động văn hóa tốt đẹp cho toàn thể cộng đồng. Và chúng ta có thể hy vọng nơi đây sẽ trở thành  một trung tâm nghệ thuật thẩm mỹ cho việc hiển thị hình ảnh nghệ thuật tại Việt Nam

Vũ Thị Bích Hồng. Sinh ra và lớn lên tại vùng quê nghèo Xã Xuân Sơn, huyện Thọ Xuân, tỉnh Thanh Hóa. Tốt nghiệp ngành Nhân Học trường Đại học Khoa Học xã hội và Nhân Văn TP Hồ Chí Minh. Từng làm phóng viên cho tạp chí Thương mại Hàng hải thuộc Hiệp hội cảng biển Việt Nam và cộng tác viên cho một số báo và tạp chí khác. Hiện nay làm nhiếp ảnh tự do, và chuyên tổ chức một số dự án triển lãm ảnh quốc tế. Với một số kinh nghiệm từ các triển lãm tại Đức, Anh, Nam Phi, Pháp, Hà Lan, Thái Lan và Việt Nam, tôi thực sự muốn được góp một chút sức mình để giúp các em nhỏ nghèo không có điều kiện tiếp cận với cuộc sống công nghệ có một cơ hội nhỏ nhoi với máy ảnh kỹ thuật số, và đó cũng chính là những kinh nghiệm, nhiệt huyết của tôi.

Vietnamese Photographic Project

MY DAY THROUGH CHILDREN’S EYES

Summary:

In this pilot project poor and disadvantaged children from a rural region from Xuan Son commune, in the countryside of ThanhHoa will be taught by professional- and semiprofessional-photographers how to use a camera. Thus,children with hidden abilities for photographing will be selectedand trainedto develop their hidden capabilities. Within a contest the children should express with the mean of photography and only with the help of their own eyes the deepest impression of their daily life.

Preparing the contest the best 200 photos will be selected from about 1000 photos from the children. The children will also create an adequate frame for their photos to show them in a public exhibition: For this, the local authorities as well as national and international guests will be invited to Xuan Son.

Having finished the exhibition with the children’s photos the best 200 photos of it and the appendant stories will be published in a representative photo book.

The main target of this project is to detect hidden abilities in photography of poor and disadvantaged children from rural regions in Vietnam, thus to give them the opportunity for further education, training and development their photographic skills to express real stories and impressions of their daily life with photos.

1)      Aims and targets of the project

a)      Children will be given the opportunity to learn how to use a camera. Thus, hidden abilities in photography of poor and disadvantaged children form rural regions in Vietnam will be looked for, selected. The best ones will be given the opportunity for further education, training and development their photographic skills. The children will learn to express real stories and impressions of their daily life with photos.  

b)      With the children’s photos a (firstly) local photographic exhibition will be organized. After that a representative photo book with the best 200 children’s photos and the appendant stories will be published.  

c)      The first project in Xuan Son commune, ThoXuan District, ThanhHoa Province with the children is a pilot project and the entrance to perform this work with the children in many other poor rural regions. With the increasing number of photographing children and an increasing number of selected best photos from different regions in Vietnam the project will get a big data base of the real life, the livelihood and the living conditions from all parts of the country. This will be a transmission channel for all the people of Vietnam, the international friends to share the life and childhood’s dreams.   

d)     Vision:

Xuan Son commune, ThoXuan District, ThanhHoa Province can become the future center of art photographic exhibitions and other art products.

2)      Analysis of the situation

a)      The people on the countryside are poor. In Xuan Son commune in ThoXuan District, ThanhHoa Province 25% of the people is below the poverty level. Most of the children there can go to school, but they don’t have other opportunities than to go to school. After school the children need to help their families within the daily work and earning money for living. That means, the children have nearly no time to play or follow their dreams. Some families even cannot afford to send their children to school. Their children have to work from a very early age. So, these poor children never have and will have access to cameras (or musical instruments, or …). They never can express their thinking and phantasy.

b)      The head of the project knows the story of the local people, the relationships in the village, the social activities, festivals and community events. She also knows the children in this countryside; they know her, and they trust her.

c)      Currently the project has 3 small and used cameras given by friends who want to support this project idea. A camera is the tool that will be provided for the children to enable them participating in the contest. This will be the basic precondition to help them expressing their best stories around their life, thoughts and perceptions.

3)      Reason’s to do this project

a)      A main reason for this project is to support and develop disadvantaged children from rural regions in Vietnam to work with a camera, thus strengthening their self-understanding and self-confidence, and coping the challenges of life. Working with a camera helps to develop the children's ability to analyze their daily surrounding, to see what is good and what is bad, what they like and what they dislike. Thus, the project creates opportunities for children to look critically on their surroundings. It helps them to learn and integrate their life into that of the world outside. The children also learn that they are allowed to have big dreams, and the project aspires to implement these dreams.

b)      Using the photos of children to perform a photo exhibition reflects aspects of the daily life of the children in their close surrounding with their own perception. Thus the observer can see a world which normally is far away of the world of grown-ups. Exhibiting the children’s photos in their home region makes it possible that the residents there have access to the life and concerns of their children as they never had it before.

c)      There is a big difference of the livelihood of the rural population and the urban population and even a bigger difference to the livelihood of people from well-developed countries. Thus, the exhibition of photos from children living in poor rural regions of Vietnam can demonstrate well their true and real life and share the living conditions with people who never thought that there is a world besides their luxury and comfortable world.  But the photos of the children will also show the beauty of an unknown landscape and the happiness of an unknown childhood besides computer and Barbie and, maybe, the dreams of children in the hard and rough world of poverty.

d)     A photo book will be published to get a further national and international extension and a long-lasting documentation of the children’s work with a camera.

4)       Working packages (How is the project going to reach its aims)

a)      Work package 1:Cooperating with local authorities is a very important and basic step to facilitate the project with working with the children and organizing the photographic exhibition.

Actions:

(1)          In a first step the project got already the consent and support of all levels and departments of the local authorities in the event area by visiting the commune People’s Committee and discussing the project idea with them

(2)          The chairing Vice President of the People’s Committee and the head of culture department and youth union secretary fully supported as well as encouraged the implementation of the project.

(3)          Thus, the local authority agreed to the project “working with the children” and to the photographic exhibition.

(4)          The project got the promise of the local radio to broadcast the call for participation as well as to inform the parents about these photographic activities and its rules.

b)      Work Package 2:Working with the children

Within the project external professional- and semiprofessional-photographers will teach the children how to use a camera. The challenge for the children will be to tell about the real life in their surrounding with the mean of photos. Thus, it will be possible to search and select children with hidden abilities for photographing, and then to train these children developing their capabilities. Experiences in the work with children show that children learn very quickly how to use a camera; and always unexpected angles will be found, together with their impressive stories.

Actions:

(1)          Firstly there will be a big meeting with 9 to 15 years old children from Xuan Son commune, in the countryside of ThanhHoa. During this meeting the children should tell about their home, their living conditions and their interest for photography.

(2)          Children with the biggest interest and ability will get a small camera and observed how to handle this camera. These children will also be assessed about their feelings when holding the camera. They will be taught about the possibility of such a camera, and how to get a story with their photos. Because of a limited number of cameras, each child can have only the opportunity to hold a camera for two days.

-            The first day is to learn how to use the camera. After this introduction the teaching photographers will go with the children to take photos, preferably from the daily field work and livelihood in the small village and in the families. It will be discussed what they made good and what is not good. At the end of the day, the group comes together to see and comment the pictures, as well as to discuss how to get a high quality photo with the best content. The photos of the children will be assessed; good and impressive pictures will be pointed out, especially when there is a good story behind the photos.

-            Then a day of practice will follow, and all children should go their own way using the camera, taking photos and tell the stories of their day. The children will get a new task to take another story with pictures.

Output of this work package:

(1)               Each child can take part with 5 pictures in the contest for the following photographic exhibition

(2)               The 200 best photos will be selected for the photographic exhibition

Communication

(1)               The information about the children’s photographic project will be broadcasted by the local and regional radio.

(2)               Brochures and Flyers will be printed which the children can take to their home to inform their parents, also to get consent for participating in the photographic education and later in the photographic exhibition with photos of their daily livelihood. 

c)      Work package 3: Photographic exhibition

The project will organize a local photographic exhibition eventin Xuan Son commune, ThoXuan District, ThanhHoa Province with the best photos of the children. This exhibition will show the results of the children’s work with a camera, at least the 200 best photographs, to local people but also to invited national and international guests. The photographic exhibition will show beautiful photos from the small village in Viet Nam, but also the true and hard life of the rural population, their livelihood and their surroundings, all that through the eyes of the children.The residents in the area will have the opportunity to visit the photographic exhibition.

Actions:

(1)               The best photos from about 200 children must be selected from about 1000 photos (5 photos from each child).

(2)               All photos will get a corporate design and a comparable resolution for showing in the exhibition (Photo Shop Work)

(3)               The photos will be printed.

(4)               A frame for the photos will be created by the children and their families.

(5)               The exhibition venue will be prepared and the photos will be placed.

(6)               The opening reception will be organized, thus to invite the local authorities as well as national and international guests, some with short greetings and presentations.

(7)               A security service will be organized for the time of the photographic exhibition.

Output:

(1)               The 200 best photos and frames from the children will be presented during the exhibition. If the guests or other people want to purchase the photos it will be possible. The incoming money will be used for school fundraising promotion of local poor students. All photos will have a corporate design and a comparable resolution for showing in an exhibition.

(2)               After the exhibition, each child who participated in the contest will receive as gift the own photo from the exhibition.

Communication:

(1)               Local radio channels will be involved to inform the public about the photographic exhibition.

(2)               Exchanging information about the work with the children and the photographic exhibition will be published in a number of newspapers and magazines which are interested in children's and social issues.

(3)               The project will create an adapted website and use the new social media as Facebook and Twitter

(4)               Important people of the public life will be invited to attend the exhibition opening.

d)     Work package 4: Printing and publishing a photo book

After the photographic exhibition a representative photo book with the best 200 photos and the appendant stories will be published to get a further national and international extension and a long-lasting documentation of the children’s work with a camera.

Actions:

(1)               The 200 best photos will be designed and adapted  in “Photo Shop” to be printed in a photo book

(2)               The children have to write the appendant stories to their photos.

(3)               The photo stories have to be reviewed and edited by a lector.

(4)               500 photo books will be printed.

(5)               A distribution list will be worked out.

(6)               The photo book will be distributed following the distribution list.

Output:

(1)               500 photo books with the 200 best photos and appendant stories from the children

Who is doing what?

(1)                 Project Manager will be Vu ThiBich Hong, freelance photographer, born 15.05.1986 in Xuan Son in ThanhHoa province. She studied Anthropology at the University for Social Science and Humanity in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.After that she got several certifications for photo reporter. She worked as photo reporter for the magazine „Shipping Time“and as freelance photographer for other newspapers and magazines. She prepared international photographic exhibitions in Germany, United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam.

(2)   Advisor: Prof. Dr. GebhardSchueler, experienced in project development and management, international networking, international photographic exhibitions and editing a photo book about climate change.

(3)                 5 Photographers will assist the project manager in teaching the children and in selecting the best photographs.

(4)                 The photo design and the adaptation to the needed photo resolution will be made by an external designer.

(5)                 The selected photos will be printed for the photographic exhibition by an external printer.

(6)                 The children participating in the photo contest will design the frame of their own photos with material of the nature in their surroundings. With this they should show their creative ability.

(7)                 The project manager will select the exhibition venue; all that with the help of the local authorities of Xuan Son commune, ThoXuan District, ThanhHoa Province.

(8)               An external security service for the exhibition must be ordered.

(9)               An external designer will prepare the 200 best to be printed in a photo book

(10)           The children have to write the appendant stories to their photos.

(11)           A Lector will review and edit  the photo stories for the photo book.

(12)           A Print shop will print the 500 photo books.

(13)           The project manager will draft a distribution list for the photo books.

Expected Impacts:

(1)               If the pilot project will be a success, it will be replicated on a national scale in many other poor and rural regions to show the living conditions there and the different cultural activities. Also there the children will get a chance to express their life story and, more importantly, they will have the opportunity to explore the living conditions of their own hometown.

(2)               The pilot project in Xuan Son commune of the ThanhHoawill become a focus for local community cultural activities and an aesthetic art center, thus developing to a hopefully famous exhibition place in Vietnam for artistic expression photos.

Time Schedule:

Month n° 1	-       Teaching about photography -       Taking photos of the daily impressions through the eyes of children
Month n° 2	-       Photo selection -       Design of the selected photos -       Photo prints -       Designing and producing photo frames -       Organising helping people for building u the exhibition, hanging up the photos -       Invitiations for the exhibition venue
Month n° 3	-       Preparing the exhibition opening ceremony -       Preparing the speeches of importnant guests and representatives of the local authorities (if wished) -       Exhibition venue
Month n° 4 - 8	-          Designing and adapting the 200 best photos to be printed in a photo book -          Writing the appendantphoto stories -          Review and editing of the photo stories -          Printing of 500 photo books -          Working out a distribution list -          Distribution of the photo book
